Vorhees previews Cardinal camp visit

MORE: Detailed recruiting and player notes from Junior Day and The Opening Oakland

2017 Kingsburg High School offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees currently has offers from 11 of the 12 Pac-12 institutions. He's hoping to make it a clean sweep.

The three-star standout will camp with Stanford next month in pursuit of a Cardinal offer. Vorhees has participated in multiple Cardinal camps in past years and has taken multiple visits to the program for games.

"I've been getting a lot of Pac-12 (attention)," Vorhees said. "Still waiting on Stanford - I'm going up to their camp, so hopefully I do well there. We'll see what happens with that. But I've been getting a lot of visits at the school, so it's been good."

Stanford assistant Pete Alamar, who recruits Vorhees' area, has been the three-star standout's primary contact on the Cardinal staff.

"(Stanford's message to me is) do well at their camp and we'll go from there, pretty much," Vorhees said. "But it sounds promising if I do well."

Making a strong impression on Stanford's coaches will obviously be a primary objective of Vorhees' camp visit. He already has a good sense for the program and personalities of the coaches.

"Last time I was there we did all the campus tour and all that stuff, so I have a good feel for it, and I went to three games this past season, so I got a good feel for what their coaching staff is really like," Vorhees said.

UCLA and Oregon are among the programs that have already offered that have Vorhees' interest. He's in no hurry to make a college decision.

"I'm going to try to hold out so I can take officials," Vorhees said. "If I can, I can, if I don't then I'll only be taking an official to wherever I commit to."

Schools are recruiting Vorhees at both offensive tackle and offensive guard. He prefers playing tackle but doesn't object to moving inside, either.
